James Cross Drums

Playing live is my favourite part of being a musician. As a drummer, having the entire floor locked into a 'four to the floor' kick pattern is a sight to behold. I have played in multiple bands throughout my 17 years of playing, varying from metal to folk.

I'm currently in Transients, a metal core band based in Berkshire, taking influence from bands such as August Burns Red, Bleed From Within and Killswitch Engage. 

 

Prior to this I was a member of Faux, a 'dirty pop' 4 piece, taking influence from Jimmy Eat World, The 1975 and Manchester Orchestra to name a few. Throughout my time with Faux, I have travelled all over the UK and Europe and have gained a vast amount of circuit experience.

Below are examples of live work I can offer

Acoustic

If you're looking for something softer, I am able to play light percussion for a variety of acoustic genres, ranging from singer/songwriter, to folk and blues. I have a variety of instruments, from shakers and tambourines to djembe and cajons to suit what you're looking for. This can be improvised or rehearsed prior to the show. Rates will vary depending on set length, location and how many shows you will need.

Bands

I am available for session and dep work across a number of genres, specialising in rock and pop. I am available for one-off gigs, weekenders and extended tours. I have professional grade gear that is well maintained. I am comfortable working to backing tracks and using click tracks live. I recommend one or two rehearsals with the band before the first show, though this isn't essential. Rates will vary depending on the length of set, rehearsal time and tour length.

Solo

I am available for solo percussion and full drum kit work at events or club nights. I have played percussion at various house and EDM sessions, playing along to the DJ to give your club room a live atmosphere. I provide all my own equipment and transport. I can either be stationed in one area with a large percussion set up or I can be a free roaming act, depending on what you're looking for. I usually play 3-4 sets of around 40 minutes for a 4 hour club session. Rates will vary depending on the length of time and location.
